Healthcare Data Entry Technician/Clerk

Health Information Technologists organize and manage health information data. They ensure its quality, accuracy, accessibility and security in both paper and electronic systems. They use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information for insurance reimbursement purposes.

Health Information Technology-Healthcare Data Entry Technician/Clerk

The Health Information Technology program is a two-year (four-semester) program. Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to sit for the national certification exam to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). The program offers one class per year beginning each fall.

Pre-requisites required:
Must be accepted to ICC prior to completing a Health Science Application. Health Science Application deadline is April 1st. Applicants must: (1) have a high school diploma or its equivalent, (2) score a minimum of 16 on the ACT, and (3) complete the following prerequisites with a “C” or higher by May 20th: Anatomy and Physiology I & II with Lab. Applicants are also encouraged, but not required, to submit a Health Information Technology Observation Form.
