TRAINING CENTER PROGRAMS
The Occupational Therapy Assistant Curriculum is a two-year-program of study that prepares an individual to work as a co-participant in the entire occupational therapy process, at the discretion of the supervising licensed occupational therapist. The occupational therapy assistant provides intervention pertinent to creating and promoting healthy life-styles, restoring or habilitating a skill or ability, maintaining current level of function, modifying an activity to ensure success and addressing disability prevention. Graduates of this program may apply to take the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapy Assistant which is administered by the National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Students accepted into the Occupational Therapy Assistant program must complete all OTA courses at Holmes Community College. Only academic credit earned at another regionally-accredited institution will be accepted by Holmes Community College toward graduation from the OTA program. The OTA application process opens annually on the first day of December and closes on the first day of March for the class that begins the following August.

Pre-requisites required: Call for more details. Summary of Program Requirements Application deadline is March 1st. Applicants must apply and be accepted to Holmes CC. Applicants must also complete an OTA application package. Applicant must: (1) have a minimum ACT score of 16, (2) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on all college courses, (3) complete A&P I and II with lab with a C or higher, (4) complete a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer work in an occupational therapy setting, and (5) have two reference forms completed and submitted with OTA application. Occupational Therapy Assistant is a two-year (five-semester) program. Graduates will receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree and will be eligible to take the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. The program offers one class per year beginning each fall.

Pre-requisites required: 2 years Summary of Program Requirements Applicants must apply for ICC admission and be accepted before completing a Health Science Application. Health Science Application deadline is April 1st. Applicants must: (1) be a high school graduate or have an equivalency (such as GED), (2) have a minimum ACT score of 16, (3) maintain a 2.0 GPA on all OTA curriculum coursework, (4) complete the following prerequisites with a C or higher by May 20th: A&P I and II with Labs, Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra, and English Comp I, (5) submit an Occupational Therapy Verification of Observation Form, and (6) submit two or more OTA Reference Forms.
