Polysomographer

Polysomnographic technologists perform sleep tests and work with physicians to provide information needed for the diagnosis of sleep disorders. The technologist monitors brain waves, eye movements, muscle activity, multiple breathing variables and blood oxygen levels during sleep using specialized recording equipment.

TRAINING CENTER PROGRAMS

Polysomnography-Polysomographer

This program provides a fast paced technical and clinical training in Polysomnography to prepare the successful graduate to work as a Polysomnographic Technologist, by; performing diagnostic studies to evaluate sleep related disorders and conditions, as well as to assist the physician in therapeutic modalities. The first 3 semesters of the polysomnography technology certificate program will allow the graduate to attempt the credentialing exam. The student is encouraged to continue after completion of the certificate program to complete the needed general studies to receive their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

Pre-requisites required:
Complete General Admission Requirements for Coahoma Community College. Click here to download CCC application. Have a minimum composite ACT score of 16. Complete Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a grade of “C” or higher in each course. Once accepted, show evidence of completion of required immunizations which includes Positive serology of immunity to Varicella (chicken pox) or immunization Complete or started Hepatitis B vaccination series Once accepted, completion of a physical exam signed by a primary care provider.
