Job Description

Diesel technicians repair and maintain diesel equipment such as railroad locomotives, trucks, buses and construction equipment. They diagnose the trouble, disassemble parts and examine them for defects and excessive wear. They test and adjust engine parts regularly to prevent problems.

Diesel Service Technician

Diesel Equipment Technology is an instructional program that prepares students to maintain and repair a variety of industrial diesel equipment including agricultural tractors, commercial trucks and construction equipment. The program includes instruction in inspection, repair and maintenance of engines, power trains, hydraulic systems and other components. Students completing the two-year Diesel Technology program will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree. A 30 semester credit certificate and a 44 hour career certificate program is also offered.

Pre-requisites required:
Submit an application for enrollment to the Office of Admissions and Records at Hinds Community College. Request that an official high school transcript or GED scores and ACT scores be sent to the Office of Admissions and Records if you are a high school graduate. Take the ACCUPLACER placement test to assess developmental needs.
