The Commercial Truck Driving program prepares individuals to drive trucks and other commercial vehicles. It includes instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, loading and unloading cargo, reporting delays or accidents on the road, verifying loads against shipping records, and keeping necessary records. CCC’s Commercial Truck Driving Program is an eight-week program that prepares students to drive tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles. The program is a combination of classroom and actual road driving that includes Department of Transportation rules and regulations, safety, proper shifting, logbooks, preparation of paperwork, map reading, and cargo handling.
Each student logs a minimum of 20 contact hours of driving time with various loads, road, and driving conditions. Students are required to pass the DOT Commercial Driver Written Examination and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
The Commercial Truck Driving program prepares participants for employment in the field of transportation. The participant will learn Department of Transportation rules and regulations, Mississippi requirements for obtaining a commercial driver’s license, and the operations of a semi-tractor trailer. Courses include both classroom and hands-on equipment training.
Tuition includes the testing and equipment fee for the State of Mississippi CDL driving test administered at Co-Lin.

Professional Truck Driver Training Program
New classes starting every 8 weeks: The Professional Truck Driver Training Program at Holmes Community College is an 8-week program that prepares students to enter the commercial truck driving industry.
Classes may be offered in the following locations: Yazoo, Goodman, Kosciusko, and Grenada.
Classes meet Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The program includes classroom instruction, controlled driving environment exercises, and road driving exercises to provide instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, DOT rules and regulations, shifting techniques, pre and post-trip inspections, loading and unloading cargo, and keeping necessary records.

Commercial Truck Driving
Six-week driving course. Trainee will learn how to properly operate the 18 Wheel Semi Trailer and prepare for testing to obtain CDL Class A License. Skills to be learned will include, Pre-Trip inspection, In-cab inspection, Air Brakes Check, Parking Brakes Check, Service Brakes Check, Straight Backing, offset (left and right), Parallel Parking (driving and conventional side), 90-degree Alley Docking and Routing Driving.
