Job Description

Mechanical engineers are some of the most diverse, talented workers in any production facility. They can work at any stage of the process and may deal with projects large and small. Typically, a mechanical engineer in an energy or advanced manufacturing facility oversees the motors and machines to ensure that the process is running efficiently. They then may make adjustments or suggestions to increase productivity and profits.

Because they are so versatile, the best mechanical engineers are creative and analytical, with an ability to quickly see and solve problems. They work in an exciting, hands-on environment where no two days of work are the same, so they should welcome breaking out of the routine.

As with almost all engineering positions, Mississippi employers require a four-year degree in engineering; some prefer certification by a professional organization, as well.
