Job Description
A medical assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures including digital record keeping, inputting data, billing, coding, scheduling, transcribing and handling insurance claims.
Training Opportunities
The Medical Assisting Program at Delta Tech provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistant training provides students the skills needed to perform in either a clinical or office capacity.The graduate will be able to assist in EKG, x-ray procedures, first aid and phlebotomy. Delta Techs medical assistant program also gives students hands-on training to perform clinical procedures, prep a patient for physical exams and assist the physician with other exams. The medical assistant may also help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can sterilize and care for instruments.
Pre-requisites required:Applicants must: (1) provide proof of high school diploma or recognized equivalency, (2) be proficient in speaking, writing, reading, and comprehending English, (3) have a personal interview with an authorized representative of the school, (4) complete a Health Affidavit/Screening, (5) have a valid drivers license, state issued ID, or passport, (6) have required immunizations and TB skin test, and (7) have a satisfactory criminal background history.
Length of Program:36 weeks, 9 months

Pre-requisites required:Medical Assisting Program applications must be submitted by May 1st for August admission or September 15th for January admission. Applicants must apply and be accepted to Northwest Community College, complete A&P I and II with a grade of C or better, and have a CPR Certification. Applicants must provide to the college records office proof of a composite ACT score of 17 or greater and a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or greater.*Applicants whose ACT scores are below 17 may be considered for admission after completion of 12 semester hours of prescribed academic courses with a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
Length of Program:Two Year Associate of Applied Science Degree
