Executive Secretaries and Administrative Assistants are responsible for supporting high-level executives and management. They provide administrative support and perform numerous duties, including scheduling, writing correspondence, emailing, routing callers, and answering questions and requests.

The Administrative Office Technology program includes a basic core of courses designed to prepare a student for a variety of entry-level positions through selections of a concentration of 60 semester credit hours. Students who successfully complete 30 semester hours as outlined in the program of study may be awarded a career certificate. Students who successfully complete 45 semester hours as outlined in the program of study may be awarded a technical certificate. Students who successfully complete 60 semester hours as outlined in the program of study may be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Pre-requisites required:Applicants must apply for East Mississippi admission and be accepted. Students enrolling in any Business and Office Technology degree program must present proof of a minimum ACT score of 14 in English, 14 in Math, and 14 in Reading or ACCUPLACER scores of 21 in Pre-Algebra, 39 in Writing, and 64 in Reading for program entrance.

The Administrative Office Technology program is an instructional program designed to provide training in administrative office procedures, integrated computer applications, and business communication. This curriculum prepares students for entry level positions as records clerks, word processing specialists, and other positions requiring computer skills in an office environment while also developing the skills necessary for future advancement. Successful completion of the first year (30 hours) leads to the Administrative Office Technology Certificate.
