Job Description
In today’s highly automated and mechanized manufacturing sector, skilled professionals are needed to monitor and maintain industrial scale equipment to keep processes going. And when necessary, rapid response is needed to repair broken parts. In any business, revenue comes from production, and when manufacturing processes stops, revenue ceases. Industrial maintenance technicians are needed to avoid disruptions in production.
Training Opportunities
The Industrial Maintenance Trades curriculum is a career Technical program designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as multi-skilled maintenance technicians. Industrial maintenance trade technicians are responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining and repairing machinery used in the manufacturing or industrial environment. Students receive basic instruction in a wide variety of areas including safety, machinery maintenance and troubleshooting/service, blueprint reading, basic welding and cutting operations, basic machining operations, fundamentals of piping and hydro-testing, and fundamentals of industrial electricity.

Students receive instruction in a wide variety of areas including safety, machinery maintenance and troubleshooting/service, blueprint reading, basic welding and cutting operations, machining operations, pipefitting, mechanical systems and industrial electricity.
Pre-requisites required:This program requires an ACT Score of 16 in the Composite and Math areas as well as a Silver Certificate on the Workkeys exam. A passing score of 55% on the BMCT (Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test) is also required. Please see the navigator for additional information regarding testing times, locations.
Length of Program:1 year certification OR 2 year technical

Maintenance Technology program offers both a Technical certificate and an associate degree (AAS) option that provide individuals with the basic skills and concepts necessary to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, and automated systems and equipment in large commercial, medical, institutional, and industrial workplaces. By obtaining the associate degree, graduates gain a competitive edge by also being prepared to manage resources and plan for the future. The number of elective hours in the second year, as well as the availability of online or hybird course offerings, allows a student seeking an associate degree to tailor courses to meet his/her specific career goals

The Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology program, located on the Senatobia campus, focuses on fundamentals of electronics and related mathematics. The program offers comprehensive, theoretical and practical knowledge of electronics technology. It also explores the hardware and programming aspects of controllers used in industrial processes. Students receive instruction in circuits, digital electronics, microprocessors and fiber optics
Pre-requisites required:A completed NWCC application for admission. An official copy of ACT or SAT scores (ACT required for Mississippi residents). An official copy of a transcript from an accredited high school that includes a graduation date; or an official copy of GED scores; or an official copy of college or military transcript(s) from all colleges attended; of if attending another college full-time and attending Northwest part-time, attending an evening class or during a summer semester, a letter of good standing from a full-time college attended.
