Job Description
Employees in these positions use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create plans and product schematics. Utilizing engineering and building techniques to design and add details to architectural and product plans. Work under the supervision of engineers or architects.
Training Opportunities
The 3D Modeling and Design Technology program provides students instruction in all phases of design technology in order to prepare them for positions as designers or computer-aided drafting technicians.
Pre-requisites required:All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Skills Attainment assessment where applicable. Students should see an advisor for further details.
Length of Program:4 Semesters Associate of Applied Science

The Engineering Technology program provides the skills and training for individuals who wish to seek jobs in the fields of drafting, architecture, and land surveying. Students are trained on the latest computer-aided drafting (CAD) software packages including AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Architectural Desktop and Arc GIS. AutoCAD is one of the industry standards for CAD technicians around the world. Experience with AutoCAD can lead to highly rewarding positions because of the current demand for AutoCAD technicians.
