Job Description

Employees in these positions use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create plans and product schematics. Utilizing engineering and building techniques to design and add details to architectural and product plans. Work under the supervision of engineers or architects.

Drafters - Architectural l Civil l Electrical l Mechanical

The Drafting and Design Technology programs of study are designed to provide specialized occupational instruction in all phases of drafting technology in order to prepare students for positions in the drafting field. A combination of class work and laboratory experience is stressed.The Engineering Drafting and Design Technology program of study is designed to provide instruction in all phases of design technology in order to prepare students for positions as designers or computer-aided drafting technicians. Instruction includes computer-aided design, architectural design, civil planning, 3D-modeling and manufacturing. A combination of class work and laboratory experience is stressed. The Architectural Engineering Technology option prepares a person for a career in the architectural drafting field as an Architectural Drafter, Architectural Designer or CAD Technician. The Architectural Engineering Technology concentration educates students in the design of projects in residential as well as commercial fields. The program is designed to prepare graduates for employment in architectural firms, design/build firms, engineering firms, governmental agencies, architectural material suppliers and manufacturing facilities. Students have the opportunity to earn Autodesk Certification upon completion of the program.
