Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operators drive and control large equipment and vehicles, usually for construction. This equipment includes bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, dump trucks, cargo trucks, and/or hydraulic truck cranes, among other tools.

Training Opportunities

Heavy Equipment Operator

Hinds Community College is offering a Logging Academy Program in partnership with Mississippi Logging Association and Mississippi Forestry Commission. The academy is an 8 to 16-week program designed to equip students with little or no experience to become a logging equipment operator with safety certifications as well as Professional Logging Manager (PLM) status.

Heavy Equipment Operator

The Construction Equipment Operation Program is designed to prepare an individual for an entry-level position in the field of construction equipment operations. This program is offered on our Wesson Campus. Practical and theoretical experiences are provided in the classroom and on the following equipment: backhoe, front end loader, dozer, motor grader, and excavator. Students will receive national certification through the NCCER curriculum.
